22/01/12: Wideopen V Longbenton NYCP Cup Round 2

What a lovely winter’s morning at Lockey Park the sun was shining as we set the goals up then just as we kick off the wind started to blow and the rain fell this was the Lockey Park we all know and love. The bad weather did not last long but unfortunately it lasted longer than our clean sheet within the first fifteen min we lost our keeper to a pulled muscle in his foot, our centre half to a groin strain and our centre forward to a bruised chest muscle after a heavy tackle from our centre mid well done tank always said you were never bothered who you tackled.
With all this in mind the first half was not a bad performance against the wind playing a team in leagues above us and all the changes that had to be made it was no wonder we were finding it hard to settle down and 3-0 at half time did not look bad.
Second half we huffed and puffed and on a whole made a better fist of it but Longbenton’s class started to show and they played some good counter attacking football and ran out 6-0 winners.

Managers comments: Well done lads a good performance on a whole but not all of you worked as hard as you could of done and that showed in the second half we need to work hard as a team for the whole game and not let the same players do all the work or let our heads drop when things go wrong we win, lose or draw as a team.

MOM: I thought you all did well today but I have to give this award to Ben and Tank for the tireless effort all game even if you did take one of your own players out Tank.
