The Under 11s prepare for the new season

The Under 11s Squad for 2007 / 2008 are: Dean Anderson, Matthew Macauley, Josh
Donathy, Elliott Beattie, Jonathan Lowden, David Collins, Joe Larby, Femi Williams, Matthew Scott, Jack Dickinson, Tommy Watson, David Stokoe, Callum Whillis.

We have assembled a small but select squad of 13 players as we move from Mini Soccer to 11 A side football. We have been placed into the 3rd division and everyone is very much looking forward to the start of the season.

Two friendlies have been arranged before the season starts so that the team can get used to playing on a much bigger pitch and to get used to playing the offside rule.

Thanks go to Lisa who has kindly sponsored our new strips which have now been ordered and will be with us for the first game of the season - our team sponsor name will be "Sweets Galore". A photo of the new strip will appear soon on our team page.

Thanks also go to David Collins uncle and Paul Watson’s employer who have donated money to the team to buy training equipment.  This will be put to good use.

First Game - Match Report

For our first game of this new season, we were drawn away to Morpeth Town in the 1st round of the Divisional Cup -  Sunday 02/09 kick off 2pm.

The game got off to a frantic start with both teams trying to attack at every opportunity. After 10 mins of constant pressure from Wideopen Callum Whillis dribbled past 2 defenders only to be brought down in the box as he was about to shoot. Up stepped Femi Williams who never misses from 12 yards, however, the keeper pulled off a magnificent save to tip the ball onto the bar.

Wideopen were not deterred as they went straight back on the attack and their efforts were rewarded with 5 goals in the 1st half : 2 from Elliott Beattie including 1 from around 30 yards (a tremendous efforts ) , 2 from Matthew Scott and 1 from Callum Whillis.

The game was quite comfortable after this and Morpeth pulled one back when a penalty was conceded just before half time.

The 2nd half was an even period with both sides having chances  - the Morpeth keeper pulled of some fantastic saves.

The game ended with a 5 - 1 victory which takes us through to the 2nd round on Sunday 09/09.
