11/12/11: Heaton Hawk Kestrels 4 - 3 Wideopen
The Rockets last game before Christmas saw them visit Heaton Hawks in a match that, if our 1-1 draw earlier in the season was anything to go by, would be very close
The game started well for Wideopen as the Rockets pushed forward and grabbed the opening goal. It was to be a very tough and frustrating game in which we went ahead twice but Heaton managed to reply and grab the equaliser.
Matthew Hay gave everything he could in goal, tipping free kicks from the edge of the box over the bar. Our defenders threw themselves at everything in an attempt to stop Heaton coming forward. James Lawton produced a lovely turn and beat the Heaton defence for pace to hit on the counter attack to put Wideopen ahead again but Heaton replied and, unfortunately for us, eventually grabbed a winner late in the game
Very disheartening. We deserved more from the match but that will spur us on in our remaining games.
