12th February 2012 : Comets vs Heaton Hawks

Our game today was against Heaton Hawks. The game started off very equal with us having some good chances saved. Heaton could have gone one ahead but for some great saves from James which denied them.

It was all level until the 20th minute when Heaton took the lead. Soon it was doubled and by half time we were trailing 5 – 0.

In the second half the lads didn’t give up and tried hard to get one back. Some good play from Connor and Jonny but we just couldn’t find the net. Some great tackles from Jack B and Samuel kept the score line down. At the final whistle we had a lesson in football and the score line reflected that at 0 – 10.

A real tough game for us today lads. Let’s lift our heads and focus on the next match.

Score: Comets 0 – 10 Heaton Hawks
Man of the Match: Jack Bryant

News and Summary of the Season So Far

This season we have found ourselves in the top league for our age group. Although it is nice to see us in the top league, with 7 games already played, it is proving to be a very difficult task to compete with most of the other teams in the league and the Comets are still looking for a win.

We have a great enthusiastic team and everyone is trying their best. We have seen some great goals scored from the team but unfortunately not enough to secure ourselves a win. With a lot of hard work and dedication our training sessions are more technical and varied and I'm sure with a few more games we can achieve a result in our favour.

I have nothing but praise for the commitment and dedication for both the players and parents who I would also like to thank for their continued support at every game and to me as a Manager.

We will hopefully have our new strips for when we play our next game on Sunday 6th November, kindly sponsored by one of our parents, Paul Bell of GB Roofing. Hopefully wearing these our luck will change. Onwards and upwards!
