Girls Squad 2007 / 2008

There are currently have 2 girls teams at Wideopen Juniors, one at Under 12 & one at under 14. This is the second season the club has been involved in girls football. They play all their games at Cramlington Sporting Club on Saturday mornings. There are about 400 girls playing every Saturday at the above venue in the Northumberland Girls League.

Wideopen Girls U12s consist of R Bell, A Wood, A Chambers, J Reid, J Brown, K Gill, B Larby, L Forrest, K Jackson, E Boon, R Macpeak.
They are currently 5th in league and playing quite well at times.

Wideopen Girls U14s consist of L Mcshane, K Carr, E Marshall, R Maine, L Brewis, A Reay, J Panagakis, V Hughes. - playing fantastic with the best defence in league & top goalscorer in league.

The Under 12s are sponsored by Crest.
The Under 14s' sponsor is Castor Group from USA.

The Coaches, Jamie and Derek have great help from Roz Watt, Jeff Gill and Abby Armstrong who is currently in 6th form at Seaton Burn College.

Under 12s Match Report

Well girls eventually you got to have game at Cramlington Sporting club in the league after such a mix up with the league forgetting to include Wideopen (How dare they!!!)
The first game was against Blyth Town which was a fantastic achievement only narrowly getting beat 3-1. All of you girls did brilliant & it was a joy to see you all in your huge strips playing your hearts out.
Our second game was against Cramlington Blue Star. Unfortunately i couldnt make it to the game, but you were left in the very capable hands of Lee Taylor & Ken Reid who did a sterling job, Steering you to a FANTASTIC VICTORY!!!! 2nd ever game together and you won, BRILLIANT,
Well done girls, all of you......

Well, you girls go from strength to strength..... Wideopen 7- Prudhoe 2
First half wasn't all that good & you all agreed you could play a lot better & you certainly did!!!
Some brilliant football in the second half, especially the ever reliable Rachel, Antonia. We had yet another bloody nose!! Unlucky Jenny Brown. The pass of the game came from Ellen Marshall to set up another goal, Fab. Keep up the hard work girls & keep smiling.

WE BEAT CRAMLINGTON!!!!!!!!  Not only did we beat them we never allowed them to have a shot at goal!!! Some outstanding defending from Lara Mcshane, Jenny Panagakis, Kate Jackson, Katie Carr, Kimberley Gill & Vikki Hughes. Well done girls.  Remember a good team spirit & true friendship within the team will go along way to winning.

Match Report - 3rd November 2007

Wideopen 9 North Shields 2

What a game!!!!!!!  Wideopen girls bossed this game from the start, we were 3-0 up within first 10 minutes which should have been 4 if not for a dubious refereeing decision!!!! At half time we were winning 4-0, fantastic. We decided to go back to basics using our wingers to their full capability & really making them work! It paid off a treat with Ellen Marshall producing some outstanding crosses to which Antonia Reay gleefully accepted.

Another game of outstanding football. Goal scorers Ruth Bell 1, Anna Gibbon 2, Jenny Brown 1, Rachel Mayne 1. A terrific performance & total domination by our Wideopen girls with Rachel Mayne being named man of the match. Keep the hard work going girls.
