Sport Relief 2014
Organised and Hosted by Wideopen Football Club and Northumberland Clubs for Young People

sportrelief1423rd March 2014 and the first 'Wideopen Mile' for Sport Relief

On a sunny although cool day about 100 runners met at Lockey Park in Wideopen to raise money for Sport Relief. This was the first time the Sport Relief Mile had been held at the home of Wideopen Football Club. It was the culmination in a lot of preparation by Northumberland Clubs for Young People supported by Wideopen FC and it proved to be an enjoyable and successful event.
An enthusisastic group of volunteers set up before the runners arrived. Monty from NUFC was eagerly waiting to meet everyone too. The runners were ably looked after with pre and post event massages courtesy of staff and students from Tynemet College. Louise from NCYP warmed everyone up before the run ... and they were off. Most completed the mile course while a few were keen to do the 3 and even the 6 mile run. A huge congratulations to everyone who took part and many thanks to all the organisers and volunteers. Overall, a great day was had by everyone.
