Weetslade Relay 2013
Hosted by Wideopen Football Club

The Weetslade Relay is organised by Claremont Road Runners. This event was started four years ago with 8 teams and 24 runners entering. On 26th June 2013 they had a record number of entries with 64 teams, 192 runners and 12 officials. The start and finish is at Wideopen Football Club. The organisers describe the event and course as follows: "3 x 2.5 miles (approx.) traffic free, multi terrain course. Each team of three must include a veteran and a lady (these may be the same person). The scenic, multi-terrain course has received favourable comments from runners in the previous years . Each team member runs one leg which covers a distance of about 4.08k. It includes a hill at halfway with a thirty metre climb. There are spectacular views over Tyneside for those who still notice such things after running up a hill. There are prizes for the members of the first and second teams and for the fastest male and female runners and veterans."
